ABOUT

Iacopo earned a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Florence with a thesis on the herpetofauna of Djibouti, in the Horn of Africa. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Nature Sciences and Management at the University of Bologna, focusing on the ecology of Italian vipers. As a freelance professional, he works on regional and LIFE monitoring projects and is the author of several scientific publications.

A lifelong nature enthusiast, he spent his childhood glued to BBC, Focus, and National Geographic documentaries—often at the expense of his retinal health. With a pathological passion for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, he has always wondered how to make others' eyes light up at the sight of a serpent’s flickering tongue or the frantic scuttle of a beetle.

For the past three years, camera in hand, he has been chasing everything “unesthetic” to share—through his Instagram profile @unaesthetic_fauna—the overlooked wonders of the tiny world that surrounds us.
